Why:
|
Private wells drilled in bedrock are an
important source of drinking water in New Hampshire and New
England; however, because private wells are unregulated, little
information is known about the water quality of these wells.
The USGS, as part of a national program called the National
Water Quality Assessment program, is randomly sampling selected
bedrock wells throughout the State to determine the quality
of this important source of drinking water.

The USGS scientists will be:
- extracting water from the private drilled
well in Concord
- testing on-site for volatile organic
compounds, pesticides, emerging contaminants such as antibiotic
drugs, radon gas, and arsenic, lead, and copper.
